I hope you all know that the District has a new ADC (Scouts) – Chris Durham
I have accepted the resignations of Christine Mancell and Phil Waite, both GSLs (Basford and Ashley).
I have also accepted the resignation of Richard Sumner from his role as GSL (St Wulstan’s) as from the end of the year.
I would very much like to thank Christine, Phil and Richard for their work in their Groups.
Dave Prince has announced to the Explorer Leaders that, due to him moving South with work he is spending less and less time with us in Newcastle.
All the above means the District is looking for new Group Scout Leaders at Basford, St Wulstan’s, Audley and Ashley.
Our District Treasurer, John Atkinson, has announced his intention to step aside at the District AGM in June.
There will be a meeting in the new year for the full District Team (GSLs, ADCs, DESC and DDC).

I am very pleased to be able to announce that I have asked Chris Durham to consider taking over the ADC (Scouts) role, following Ric’s resignation and move to Wales, and that he has accepted the challenge.
Like other ADC position-holders, Chris will be carrying on with his Group work.
Please do your upmost to support him as he finds his feet over the next few months. (- and I don’t mean you should stop supporting him in the new year!!)

Earlier today I heard that Ann Tomkinson, who was a Cub Leader at the 103rd Newcastle-under-Lyme School Group for a good many years and who had been ill with cancer for quite some time has died. Everyone in the District would like to pass on our sympathies to her family.

The District is very pleased to announce that 5 of the District’s Explorer Scouts will be representing the District, Staffordshire and the UK at the 2011 Jamboree held in Sweden.
The 5 Explorers were chosen from all the Explorers from across the District by a rigorous selection process devised by the County. All 5 now are working hard to raise the money they need to attend the Jamboree. So if you see them fund raising, please put your hand in your pocket!

This year’s AGM was held at Silverdale Working Men’s Club. As well as the usual reports and formal parts of the meeting, many of the District’s Groups set up displays to show off the activities they had completed over the past 12 months.
The County Commissioner was there to present awards to deserving recipients.
