Llanberis, Wales 2025
A group of Scouts and Explorers from Clayton decided to head to Llanberis for the second year running to attempt to summit the highest mountain in England & Wales.
Unfortunately with 70mph winds and torrential rain forecast the decision was made to avoid the higher tops on the Saturday.

Instead the group looked at the forecast and developed a plan to get outside in a different area.
Using the expertise of their leaders they headed for a more sheltered area in the Ogwen valley, a short drive from Llanberis.

The moderately strenuous walk offers some of the most dramatic mountainous scenery in the UK at the oldest National Nature Reserve in Wales.
They explored the beautiful ice-sculpted Cwm Idwal – a bowl shaped hollow filled with the crystal clear waters of Llyn Idwal, world famous for its rock formations and rare and fragile plant life.
They also managed to avoid the worst of the weather so the earlier decision to move the objective of the day was definitely the right one.

Saturday evening was spent getting warm and dry, eating great food and watching a couple of films.
Sunday the Scouts and Explorers explored Llanberis high street before making the slow journey home in the minibuses.
