It’s 19.16 on Friday 16th December 2016 and Cubs from all over Newcastle are on an ice rink in Hanley, and at their meetings across the District, renewing their Promise as part of the 100th birthday of Cub Scouting.
On the 16th December 1916, just a week after 14th Basford started, Cub Scouting, then known as the Wolf Cubs, officially started, However, the Cub programme had been on trial since the end of 1913.
