With Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day coming up, we are proud to announce we now have a Roll of Honour which commemorates those Scouts from Newcastle who were killed in armed conflicts since the beginning of the First World War just over 100 years ago.

Newcastle District Roll of Honour

Only the members of three Groups, 1st Porthill, 14th Basford & 74th Silverdale,  are recorded at the moment as records have been lost in the mists of time.

However, it is very likely that there were members of 77th Audley killed in both the First and Second World Wars as the Group has been in existence since 1912. It is also possible that members of the now closed 23rd Wolstanton Grammar School (now Wolstanton High School) and sill extant 103rd Newcastle High School (now Newcastle-under-Lyme School) Groups were killed in the Second World War as there are Memorials to their old boys killed in that war at both schools.

If anyone knows of any Scouts from our District killed in armed conflicts since the beginning of the First World War, please get in touch with us so they can be added to our Roll of Honour.
