As part of Newcastle Town Centre’s Christmas celebrations, the District were invited to put on an event in the Queen’s Gardens. The activities included making salt dough decorations, gingerbread making, a chocolate tombola, giant garden games, making Christmas tree rockets, roasted chestnuts, mince pies and non-alcoholic mulled wine.

While we were there we made full use of the bandstand and did some carol singing assisted by the Town Crier.

As well as the events in Queens Gardens, there was a parade through the town to welcome Santa, which was lead by 1st Porthill’s drums.
