On Sunday 21st April 2024, we held our annual St. George’s Day Parade in Newcastle town centre.
All the Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and adult Leaders and helpers met in Queen’s Gardens before the parade. We set off, led by the drums corps, towards St. Giles Church in the warm sunshine!
At Newcastle’s War Memorial in Red Lion Square, we were inspected by the King’s representative in Staffordshire, Lord-Lieutenant Ian Dudson, Newcastle’s MP, Aaron Bell and the Mayor and Mayoress of Newcastle, Councillor Simon White and Councillor Gill Burnett, along with our District Commissioner, Vera Bloor.
Once in Church, there were a number of songs sung, complete with actions, an obstacle course for one of the Cubs and the presentation of awards including Wood Badges and Long Service Awards.
