This week, from 1st – 7th June is Volunteers’ Week!
Volunteers’ Week is an annual event which takes place at the start of June. It celebrates the contribution made by millions of volunteers across the UK. It’s run by NCVO in partnership with Volunteer Development Scotland, Volunteer Now (Northern Ireland) and Wales Council for Voluntary Action.
From showcasing the different volunteering roles on offer, taster sessions and team challenges with new partners, to volunteer recruitment events, awards ceremonies and launching new volunteering campaigns, events take place throughout the country.
This gives us the opportunity to thank all the adult volunteers in Newcastle District who help to actively engage and support around 1000 young people throughout the District in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
So thank you to all our volunteers!
We have lots of opportunities for more adults to volunteer with us. Whether people want to run a Beaver Colony, help show some Scouts how to plumb a sink or to look after a Group’s finances, we want you!
We are specifically looking for Beaver Leaders at Madeley, & Holy Trinity Groups and Scout Leaders at St. Wulstans and Basford Groups. If you think you can help with these or have any other talents you are willing to share with us, please get in touch with us.
